Summer College Bridge Program

For rising 高中 juniors, 老年人, 和 college freshmen

The Summer College Bridge Program presented by Woodlynde School prepares students for all that awaits them on their educational journey. Over the course of four weeks, rising 高中 junior, 老年人, 和 college freshmen will gain insight into the world of college academics 和 learn the skills they need to thrive in the unfamiliar world of higher education. Developed 和 led by a team of Woodlynde School educators—experts in reaching 和 teaching students who learn differently—the Summer College Bridge Program demystifies post-secondary success for students in public, 私人, 和 parochial schools.

The Summer College Bridge Program is divided into four key areas of focus that college freshman traditionally struggle with upon entering college. All courses are taught by Woodlynde School’s expert 和 caring teachers. 
Oral Communications
Designed to prepare students for success in the public speaking situations they will encounter in college, this course teaches students every step of the speech-making process, 包括:
  • Research 和 planning

  • Creating visual aids
  • Lessening anxiety
Written Communications
Students will gain confidence 和 proficiency in academic writing 和 an underst和ing of the rigor involved in college writing by learning to:
  • Improve analysis, support, 和 research skills
  • Augment the use of rhetoric 和 persuasive techniques
  • Underst和 和 demonstrate revision 和 editing techniques
  • Utilize research-based arguments 和 examples
Mathematical Concepts for College Readiness
This course will help students further develop mathematical critical thinking 和 problem-solving skills in relationship to life on a college campus. This project-based math course is designed to both prepare students for the academic rigor of an introductory-level college mathematics course as well as situations involving higher level math concepts, 包括:
  • Creating 和 maintaining a budget
  • Managing a checking account 和 credit cards
  • Saving for the future
  • Underst和ing college loans 和 interest rates
21st Century Study Skills
This course addresses the executive functioning skills needed to be ready for college academics, with a key focus on virtual learning 和 using assistive technology.  Specific skills addressed include:

  • Assistive Technology Programs 和 Applications
Woodlynde School is a 私人, co-ed college prep day school located in suburban Philadelphia, 宾西法尼亚, that serves intelligent, talented students with learning differences in grades K - 12. Woodlynde provides a comprehensive, evidence-based 幼儿园小学中间 和 高中 program in a challenging yet nurturing environment for students with average to above average cognitive abilities (IQ) who have language- or math-based learning differences (such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia or Dyscalculia), Executive Function Challenges, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or Auditory Processing Disorder. Even for those students without a diagnosed learning disability (LD), Woodlynde offers expert 和 caring teachers in small classroom settings that support academic success. Woodlynde School also offers a post-graduate (PG) program in partnership with Rosemont College as well as a regional 夏令营 for students who learn differently.
